The Junior Volunteer (JV) Program is designed to offer young people the opportunity to give back to their community while fostering personal growth and a deeper understanding of compassion. This program thrives through the collective efforts of participants, staff, volunteers, and parents, all working together toward common goals.
Throughout the program, Junior Volunteers take on a variety of roles that contribute to the daily operations of The Shack Neighborhood House. A few of these roles include:
- Counselor’s Aide
- Kitchen Assistant
- Swim Instructor Assistant
- Maintenance Helper
- Concession Stand Assistant
In addition to these roles, Junior Volunteers engage in community service projects, such as visiting nursing homes, assisting with park and trail cleanups, supporting community gardens, participating in food security initiatives, and collaborating with other local programs.
To qualify for program incentives, Junior Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 25 service hours and demonstrate a commitment to their roles throughout the week.
Overall, the Junior Volunteer Program offers an enriching experience, providing valuable opportunities for service-learning and the chance to ignite a lifelong passion for volunteering.
